Organisation

SOLID RACKS Pty Ltd

Team

Managing Directors Trevor and Nicolle Drake first met at work in 1981. Nicolle was the Design Draftswoman and Trevor was the Factory Foreman at a small shop fitting company in Brookvale, NSW.

Trevor, a shipwright by trade and Nicolle an interior & graphic design graduate, married in 1983 and later established Wood Appeal Pty Ltd in 1989.

Wood Appeal Pty Ltd is a multi-award winning custom joinery and Design Company that is Australian family owned and operated.

SOLID RACKS was founded on Sydney's Northern Beaches by Trevor & Nicolle when they moved their family to Manly Beach 10 years ago and purchased their son Christopher his first surfboard.

Chris quickly developed a SOLID passion for surfing and acquired another 5 surfboards. A lack of space in his small bedroom and continual damage to his precious quiver began the family’s realisation that a storage system was desperately needed.

The very first set of SOLID RACKS were originally designed and manufactured exclusively by Trevor & Nicolle for their son however, when Chris was sponsored by O'Neill Australia he decided to give a set to Rob Bain as a thank you. Rob and the team at O'Neill Australia were stoked, and so SOLID RACKS was established.

Born from “Accidental Entrepreneurs” and a growing market need for strong, reliable surf & sport storage systems, the SOLID Racks product range continues to grow due to the irrepressible passion of husband & wife founders Trevor and Nicolle Drake.

SOLID Racks are World leaders in ergonomic and innovative storage solutions and are used by World Champion Surfers, Olympians, Sporting Legends and Entrepreneurs across the globe, who enthusiastically endorse their SOLID products.

Upon the launch of the very first SOLID Racks product through Quiksilver in September 2007, they were encouraged to develop a range of SOLID storage solutions.

At the beginning of 2008, the team at SOLID Racks implemented a dedicated SOLID Research & Development division within their manufacturing plant in Sydney, Australia, after being inundated with requests from consumers wanting individual SOLID storage solutions for their homes and retail spaces.

In October 2009 SOLID released an arsenal of 40 radical, storage solutions that stoked the World Surfing Industry.

In September 2010, SOLID Racks unveiled the much anticipated international patent-pending Surf & Sport - SOLID INFINITY SYSTEM which has also metamorphosed into a new International Patent Pending Building System.

Project Brief

The SOLID INFINITY SYSTEM is a unique Australian innovation that is easily applied to any wall and lets YOU decide how, what and where you store your precious belongings.

This non-static, systemised storage solution is completely flexible and interchangeable and decreases current installation times by at least 50% and is organically being adopted globally.

The SOLID INFINITY SYSTEM enables anyone to “drop and lock” even the heaviest equipment onto internal or external walls enabling faster and easier installation of cantilevered objects and componentry than under current building standards and static storage systems.

It can also be adapted as a freestanding storage screen or mobile wall dependent upon your requirements and also works as a vehicular conversion system.... turning the weekday "tradie's" tool-box van into a surfboard storage/camper vehicle for the weekend wax-head within minutes!

Project Innovation / Need

• Will hold multiples of extremely heavy objects making existing wall hanging systems obscelete
• Cantilevered objects can be completely installed or rearranged within minutes
• Limits damage done to both walls and precious equipment
• Doesn’t require major or skilled trades for installation
• Replacement of equipment takes seconds without requiring any new wall penetration
• Panels are WATERPROOF, light weight, acoustic, etc
• Addresses water damaged and damp areas and is mould resistant
• Interchangeable, customisable, adaptable, unique & visually aesthetic
. Perfect for interchangeable retail display, rowing and surf clubs etc

The SOLID INFINITY SYSTEM encompasses 3 separate storage solutions. To design your own custom system follow Steps 1-5

Step 1. Select your method of support:
SOLID INFINITY Posts or
SOLID INFINITY Strips or Wall Plates
SOLID INFINITY Sheets

Step 2. Select your interchangeable support components:
SOLID Infinity Support Post Arms™ OR
SOLID Infinity Slotwall Arms™ & Brackets

Step 3. Install your selected SOLID INFINITY support system

Step 4. Drop and Lock your arms or accessories into place

Step 5. Load, Store & Display your Equipment

Design Challenge

The SOLID INFINITY SYSTEM began from a simple need that was required to safely protect and store a surfboard. After being inundated with requests from consumers wanting custom storage solutions Trevor & Nicolle began to develop numerous products that were embraced by the world surfing industry, athletes, Olympians and world champions.

The SOLID INFINITY SYSTEM responds economically to retail, residential, industrial or commercial contexts and all associated parameters and can be painted to camouflage or accentuate its architectural appearance or environment.

The only previous way to support heavy equipment was to engage an engineer to produce heavy, rigid steel welded supports that rust and have no adjustment or natural suspension.

After years of copious experimentation testing numerous prototypes, they adapted the SOLID INFINITY Post into strips and plates, while the perforated sheet came as a natural progression. With over 100 new concepts still under wraps, the SOLID INFINITY SYSTEM successfully demonstrates and showcases Australian Design & Innovation.

Boasting a ZERO returns record after 5 years, SOLID RACKS remains the global leader of radical, innovative surf & sports storage solutions that empower the end user by providing freedom and flexibility to efficiently and rapidly organise and interchange any space within minutes.

Sustainability

The SOLID INFINITY SYSTEM is made from durable, light-weight, water-proof polymer which is recyclable, thermal, acoustic, UV Stable, self-extinguishing, insect and mould resistant and non-hazardous during the manufacturing process, non-toxic and benign when installed.

Our product research and development with this element has produced information pertaining to capabilities which demonstrating Linear Elastic Strength, which has made us world leaders in this Research and Development.

As you can see Directors Trevor & Nicolle Drake, sitting in a kayak on the SOLID INFINITY SYSTEM taking a combined weight of 230kgs at 90 degrees out off the wall which aptly demonstrates it's ingeniously engineered, structural strength.

The SOLID INFINITY SYSTEM can also be manufactured from numerous other materials including steel if Ultimate Tensile Strength is required, which would support a 20 foot cruiser off the side of a boatshed!

The SOLID INFINITY SYSTEM is 100% Australian Designed, Developed, Tested, Manufactured, Wholesaled, Retailed and Exported by an Australian Family Owned & operated company who are proud to be creating jobs for Australian families.
