Company Details

Having set up in Australia only 18 months ago JP Finsbury is new to Sydney but brings more than 13 years experience in bespoke joinery and object design development and manufacture from London, UK.

Director Adam Price has worked on many 5 star hotels in London, fitting out Royals Suites, Penthouses and 5 star spas of the leading hotels including The Dorchester, The Langham, The Goring Hotel and the Lanesborough. Before leaving London, Adam worked closely with Russell Sage Studio to create bespoke furniture pieces for The Zetter Hotel's Bistrot Bruno and The Hospital Club, Soho London.

In moving to Australia, Adam aims to further develop the portfolio of JP Finsbury to go beyond interior fitouts and work closely with designers to create beautiful furniture and objects using artisan practices and sustainable materials.

In the last 18 months Adam has had the privelage of working with Australian timbers which were unknown to him in previously. To further understand local timbers Adam has travelled to Western Australia and spent several weeks in Tasmania to familiarise himself with local variatals in particular those in plantation.

Company Innovation

With Adam's extensive experience on a variety of carpentry and joinery projects he is able to communicate design intention and outcome consicely and eloquently to both contractor and client/designer.

Adam chooses to work on a small selection of projects with a small subcontractor workforce. This allows Adam to be able to lead projects and control the quality of work that is manufactured under the JP Finsbury name.

Quality and authenticity are always the main drivers for the selected projects undertaken by JP Finsbury.

In today's market there is an understanding that budget is a driver and often a dictator in the development of projects. JP Finsbury aims to work closely with designers and architects to find cost effective alternatives to maximise design quality and avoid compromising on design outcomes.

Sustainability

As the build and construction industry is one of the largest contributors to landfill and a strain on waste mangement JP Finsbury works to reduce waste and work intelligently.

The Hives as a Project were initially commissioned as a one off project. After consultation the project became a showcase that could be used across several exhibitions after some design modifications. Including rounded edges to reduce chipping of paint finish (and reduce touch ups on each installation) and design to incorporate a flatpack storage solution between installations.

To aid both budgetary restrictions as well as to reduce waste the design of The Hives was such that took advantage of oversized sheets of material to create the large span of the showcases with limited waste and off cuts.

In designs that require solid timbers and hardwood JP Finsbury always aims to work with material supplied by sustainable sources including Australian plantation timbers.
